Controversy Over Bush Presidential Library Continues

The concerns about the site of the Bush library and museum have raged on from early last year and are beginning to reach a feverish pitch in Texas making the apparent homecoming for bush not as welcoming as one would have expected. First, historians and archivists complained about censorship. Next, professors and scholars objected. Now, pastors and church leaders have joined the protest against Bush's presidential library. Southern Methodist University (SMU) is slated to host the George W. Bush Presidential Library on its campus in Dallas, Texas. SMU's leaders are warmly welcoming Bush's library. The Bush library foundation has formally approved SMU as the location.

But all is not well. The United Methodist Church's (UMC) Quadrennial General Conference is the UMC governing body. Earlier this month, that governing body voted overwhelmingly - 844 to 20 - to refer a petition to its South Central Jurisdiction, urging it to reject Bush's presidential library, preventing it from being housed at SMU. Signed by 844 Methodist leaders.

Church leaders say that Bush's library does not belong at SMU because the UMC should support instead a separation of church and state. Some leaders have explained that if the Bush library goes on the SMU campus, it could appear to the country and the world that the UMC endorses George Bush and his policies.

Bush is attempting to raise $500 million for the project and has hired Michael Van Valkenburgh, principal of a New York- and Cambridge-based design firm to be the lead architect for the library. Van Valkenburgh, a professor at Harvard University's graduate school of design, has won numerous awards for his work, which also includes a number of urban parks, such as the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

I feel that the library should be built. Iy should be built on George W. Bushs property and should house his many memoirs. They should be on disply for him to refernece to whenever he needs to remember how he screwed this country and how he endangered the lives of our military heros on a daily basis. He needs to be able to see that he is soley responsible for the deaths of thousands of people that were innocent. He was fighting his dads war and cost us our family members and loved ones. I think he should have his library, built with his own hands and his own money. I don't think it should be forced onto the rest of society. He was without doubt our worst prseident and he will be remembered well for it. I hope he has plenty of time to spend in his new library reading about the innocent blood he spilled. Long live BUSH, the longer he lives, the longer he can relive our nightmare.

Somebody finally said what needed to be said and I say AMEN! That little weasel is good for nothing and he's a liar. He knew full well there weren't any weapons in Iraq, it was just an excuse. I saw the movie "W" It was bologna. He was portrayed as a simpleton that just didn't know any better and that he got caught up in it and had no choice. He had plenty of choices. He could have told the american people that he made a mistake. But he didn't do that, he didn't do it because he knew exactly what he was doing. Look back at 9/11. Watch video footage of the towers falling and then watch a demolition video of a similiar size building. I have been in the construction business my whole life and there is no way for that building to have fallen like it did. If the top floors were on fire the fire would have slowly spread to the floors beneath it, one at a time, the building would not collapse on itself. The only way for that to happen is for all the supports to be removed at the same time. Causing the building to buckle. There were at least 12 floors with supports in them. Generally 10 floors between supports. So how did that building fall again. Oh yeah I forgot two of them fell from planes hitting them. But what about the third building that fell? No plane hit it at all. Some say that the tower leaned over on it and caused it to come down. Nope watch the video. Al three collapse on themselves, demolition style. It was done to get us believe that we had been a victim of terrorism. We were victims of our own government. Why was the thrid building destroyed? Were they watching the progress and the had to destroy the evidence that they had been there? What about the Pentagon? How convenient for the plane to go completely around and hit the back side, where they were doing some construction work. All the offices were empty back there. Look at the video of the damage to the pentagon, round hole right??? Where is the plane. COmercial size flight and yet no pieces visible?? The pentagon isn't that big. There were people out on the ground picking up evidence and they were caught on camera by the media and yet no one seems to notice this. Where did that great big plane go that hit the pentagon, maybe there was never a plane to begin with. SMall round hole looks like defense rocket hit pentagon and it's all a cover up. Bush knew before he ever started the war that there was no reason for it. As for Bin Laden, I am sure that he is involved somewhere, but we can't seem to find him. Guess we aren't really looking all that heard either. Wake up fellow Americans and realize that our government can do pretty much whatever they please and we are powerless to stop them. We are supposed to be governing our country, sp why are we allowing the government to rule us???? Protect your constitutional rights!! Don't let this continuie to happen.
